“Infusion”

She infuses her past
Into a perfume of sorts
Musky and sweet
Something that holds, then lingers, and forgets
Sweet and bitter
As life’s constant offerings
A scent for all occasions
And a sumptuous memory to wrap oneself in
To recall those moments of warmth and happiness
And the essence of salt and tears
Tingling bodies and tilted heads in utter sensation
The curling of passionate toes at the opposite end
Both sides feeling everything and all at once
For it is the balance that we cling to
And that keeps us coming back
Back to life
To reality
